Geeta Basra recalls two miscarriages after first child

Geeta Basra recalls two miscarriages after first child despite healthy lifestyle, says Harbhajan Singh was her pillar of strength

Geeta Basra and Harbhajan Singh have been setting couple goals ever since they tied the knot in 2015. The duo are doting parents to daughter Hinaya (born in 2016) and a baby boy (born in 2021). But behind their picture-perfect family moments, Geeta recently opened up about a heartbreaking chapter of her life—her two miscarriages after the birth of her first child.

A tough journey after Hinaya

In an interview with Hauterfly, Geeta shared that she conceived twice after Hinaya, but both pregnancies ended in miscarriage. The former actress revealed how the experience shook her despite living a healthy lifestyle.“I tried twice and I had two miscarriages and it was a very, very difficult time because you feel like, ‘I am fit, I am doing yoga, I am eating right… so what can possibly go wrong? Why could I not hold the baby? Why was I miscarrying?’” she recalled.

Not expecting complications

Geeta said her first pregnancy with Hinaya had been smooth, which made the miscarriages even harder to process. “When it happened, it kind of hit me and took me back. I thought, ‘Wow, I never expected this because it was so easy with Hinaya.’ But when I got pregnant three years after and I miscarried, I was not expecting that,” she shared.

Harbhajan’s constant support

Through it all, Geeta had the unwavering support of her husband, Harbhajan Singh. She remembered how the cricketer immediately rushed to her side during her first miscarriage. “When I had the first miscarriage, he was in Punjab, so he flew in the next day. I had to have a minor procedure in the hospital, and he was there through that,” Geeta said, adding that Harbhajan’s presence gave her the strength to cope with the pain.
