Zubeen Garg had many ways of earning money. Garg made income from music sales, live concerts, acting, and brand endorsements. According to a 2024 report by Pratidin Time, his net worth was about USD 8 million (around Rs 70 crore).

How Zubeen Garg rose to fame in India and beyond

Zubeen Garg became famous in the Northeast with his first album, ‘Anamika’ (1992). But it was his song ‘Ya Ali’ from the Bollywood film ‘Gangster’ (2006) that made him known all over India.During his career, he sang in more than 40 languages, recorded over 32,000 songs, and acted in Assamese films such as ‘Mon Jai’ and ‘Mission China’. Known as the “heartthrob” of Assam, Zubeen was loved not only for his music but also for his charm and presence in films and live shows.

Tragic circumstances of Zubeen Garg’s final moments

Garg’s life was cut short during a trip to Singapore to attend the North East Festival. According to the festival organisers, he suffered breathing difficulties while scuba diving. “He was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2:30 PM IST,” the organisers stated.

Assam CM assures Zubeen’s mortal remains will be brought back

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma assured that he was in touch with India’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Shilpak N Ambule, to ensure Zubeen’s mortal remains were brought back to Assam at the earliest. In his post on X, he wrote, “I am in constant touch with the High Commissioner of India H.E Dr Shilpak Ambule. We are coordinating to ensure beloved Zubeen’s mortal remains return to Assam at the earliest.
