India, US Review Bilateral Defence Cooperation, Pentagon Official Says ‘Continuing To Elevate…’

India’s Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Thursday said that bilateral defence cooperation was reviewed during a recent meeting with Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby.

In a post shared on X, Kwatra said: “A productive conversation with the brilliant Elbridge Colby. Reviewed the current agenda and charted actionable path on several initiatives in the pipeline of India-US defence cooperation. Value his deep knowledge, perspective and consistent support for our strategic partnership.”

Colby also shared a post saying that the US welcomed India’s work to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.

“I was very pleased to host @AmbVMKwatra at the Pentagon earlier this week for a valuable discussion. We at the Department of War look forward to continuing to elevate our critical defense cooperation with India,” he said.

On September 16, Kwatra underlined the long-standing and fruitful space partnership between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), describing it as one of the most important pillars of India-US cooperation. He was speaking at the India-USA Space Collaboration event in Washington.

He added, India is planning a manned moon mission and a space station between 2028 and 2035, with NASA continuing as a vital partner.
