Why Boris Becker feels Novak Djokovic can’t win any more Grand Slams

While Novak Djokovic continues his search for the historic 25th grand Slam, tennis legend Boris Becker feels it may not be possible.

Tennis legend Boris Becker doesn’t see Novak Djokovic winning any more Grand Slams, saying the Serbian has accepted his fate amid the rise of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Djokovic is the joint-most successful tennis player of all time with 24 Major titles, the same as the great Margaret Court.

The 38-year-old Djokovic last won a Grand Slam at the US Open in 2023, and despite reaching the semi-finals of all four Majors in 2025, he has failed to take the sole lead. The biggest obstacle has been Alcaraz and Sinner.

The 22-year-old Alcaraz has won six Slams already, while Sinner, 24, has four to his name. They have shared the last eight Slams between them equally since the start of 2024.

It’s quite evident that winning a 25th Grand Slam trophy is going to be next to impossible for Djokovic, but his career has always been a difficult challenge. The Serbian famously broke the hold of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer on the Grand Slams and now has more Major titles than the two legends.

Becker feels Djokovic has admitted he can’t win Grand Slams

But the 57-year-old Becker, who won six Grand Slams, feels Djokovic may not be able to add any more Majors to his tally as he has already expected that he can’t win it due to his growing age and the rise of young players.

“I think Djokovic has now realistically admitted that he can’t win a Grand Slam because of his age and the strength of the young players,” Becker said on the Becker-Petkovic podcast.

Djokovic was knocked out by Alcaraz i n the US Open semi-finals before the Spaniard went on to beat Sinner in the summit clash. After his defeat, Djokovic admitted that he has an improbable-looking job in front of him, but he will continue to fight.

“I can only do what I can do. And yes, it will be very difficult for me in the future to overcome the hurdle of Sinner and Alcaraz in best-of-five-set matches in the Grand Slams…,” Djokovic said after his 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2 defeat.

“I’m going to keep fighting and trying to get to the final and at least fight for another trophy. But it’s going to be a very, very difficult task.”
