Sivakarthikeyan’s much-awaited thriller ‘Madharasi’, directed by the ‘Thuppakki’, ‘Sikandar’ fame AR Murugadoss, kicked off with high expectations and a powerful opening weekend.According to the reports, the film stormed into theatres with Rs 13.65 Cr on Day 1, which was followed by Rs 12.1 Cr and Rs 11.4 Cr on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. By the end of its first three days, the film had crossed Rs 37 Cr. However, the following weekdays brought a sharp decline, and this was majorly due to the mixed reception for the film.

Current collections and occupancy for ‘Madharasi’

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Madharasi earned around Rs 66 lakhs on Day 13 (Wednesday), taking its total India net collection to Rs 59.41 Cr. Despite nearing the Rs 60 Cr milestone, the film’s earnings have slowed down considerably in its second week. The overall Tamil occupancy on Wednesday was reported at 15.57%, with night shows recording a slightly better turnout at 17.32%.

Sivakarthikeyan leads the pack

Madharasi – Official Teaser

The film brings together an ensemble cast with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Prem Kumar, and Monisha Vijay. Backed by AR Murugadoss, the film has unfortunately failed to meet the expectations of the audiences. Looking at the impressive trailer, ‘Madharasi’ was expected to mark the comeback of the ‘Ghajini’ director, but it turned out to be an average one. Even with mixed reviews, the audiences are praising the performance of Vidyut Jammwal. Also Sivakarthikeyan’s dedication is getting much praise from both SK fans and general audiences.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
