However, did you know the actor was a cage cleaner in the zoo before becoming an actor? In an interview, the American cinema legend opened up about his life struggles before achieving stardom.

Sylvester Stallone reveals working as a zoo cage cleaner

During a conversation with Jimmy Fallon on his ‘The Tonight Show’, Sylvester Stallone shared how he struggled to make his ends meet during his days in New York. He said, “Look, when you’re broke, you’ll take anything.” Stallone added that while walking down the street, he once thought, “Why don’t I get a job cleaning the lion’s cages?”The Hollywood icon went on to share that the cage used to have a “very pungent” smell. He shared, “I worked at the zoo for about three and a half weeks, and I was hoping that this thing would eat me; I couldn’t take it anymore.”Sylvester added that even after having a shower, the smell would stay while going to bed at night. And to get rid of the stink, he decided to get a “job cutting meat at a delicatessen.” The ‘Expendables’ star stated that he worked with a brisk pastrami and called it worse than working as a cage cleaner.He said, “The problem lies in cleaning it. Guys, you have no idea. Don’t ever look at the bottom of a pastrami cooker because you will see hell.”

Sylvester Stallone on the work front

The actor was last seen in the film titled ‘Alarum’. He played the role of Agent Caster in the film. Directed by Michael Polish, the film also starred Scott Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone, Mike Colter, Willa Fitzgerald, Ísis Valverde, and D. W. Moffett. The movie was released in theaters on January 17, 2025.
