Ajith’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’ vanishes from OTT platform

Ilaiyaraaja legal battle: Ajith’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’ vanishes from OTT platform; Leaves fans disappointed

Fans are shocked after Ajith Kumar’s starrer ‘Good Bad Ugly’ was suddenly removed from Netflix’s OTT platform. The film, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, was released in theaters on April 10. Ajith received a great response for his stunning slim look. The film had Trisha, Arjun Das, Prasanna, Prabhu, Sunil, and others acting alongside Ajith, which created additional expectations for the film.

Ilaiyaraaja’s songs spark major legal controversy

Music was an important feature in ‘Good Bad Ugly’ composed by GV Prakash Kumar. In particular, Ilayaraja’s famous songs, including ‘Otha Rupa Thaaren,’ ‘En Jodi Manja Kuruvi,’ and ‘Ilamai Itho Itho,’ were used. However, composer Ilaiyaraaja alleged that these songs were included in the film without his permission. Following this, Ilaiyaraaja filed a lawsuit seeking compensation of Rs 5 crore and an apology from the producer. This case regarding copyright infringement became a major controversy. After the recent hearing, the Madras High Court ordered the makers to mute Ilaiyaraaja’s songs in ‘Good Bad Ugly’.

Ongoing litigation likely reason behind ‘GBU’ removal from OTT

Despite legal issues, ‘Good Bad Ugly’ was released on Netflix on May 8. Those who missed out on seeing the film in theaters were able to enjoy it on OTT. The film streaming for several months suddenly disappeared from the digital platform. Fans were left confused as it was removed without any prior notice. As per a report from News 18, Ilaiyaraaja’s ongoing litigation may be behind this sudden move. But the OTT platform has not yet provided any official explanation regarding this. With fans in deep disappointment, everyone is waiting to see if the film will return to OTT. An explanation is expected from the production team or the digital partner soon.
