While we all enjoyed the movie, there are stories of the struggles faced by the actors to make our watch worthwhile. Since Rishi Kapoor was shooting for the first song of his career, the actor wanted a choreographer to guide him in performing the song. To this, Raj Kapoor scolded him in front of everyone for his demand.
The ‘Main Shayar To Nahi’ song was a great hit, and this only happened because of the life-changing advice Rishi Kapoor got from his legendary father. Raj Kapoor told Rishi that the choreographer you are demanding would have directed other heroes as well; he must have choreographed Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and other leading actors of that time. “What will be your specialty then? What difference will you make for the audience as a hero? There would have been no new element, and it would have looked like you have copied them,” Rishi shared. Raj Kapoor further instructed him to take the stage and start performing on his own.’Main Shayar To Nahin’ is still one of the biggest hit songs of the movie. It was sung by Shailendra Singh, and the music was given by the legendary musical duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal to the lyrics penned by Anand Bakshi. The song featured Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor. Since there was no choreographer assigned, Rishi Kapoor performed in his style. This was disclosed by the actor in his autobiography titled ‘Khullam Khulla’.
