Incessant rain lashed Pune from Sunday evening to Monday morning, causing traffic disruption and waterlogging across several areas. While the city remains on alert, IndiGo has issued a travel advisory.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall in Pune till September 17 and a yellow alert is issued for the next two days.

IndiGo has cautioned the travellers about probable disruption of flight operation and urged to take spare time while reaching the airport.

IndiGo Issues Travel Advisory

“While we want your journey to be as hassle-free as possible, Mother Nature has her own plans. With heavy rains and thunderstorms expected again in #Pune, there’s a chance this could lead to air traffic congestion and impact flight operations,” IndiGo’s advisory reads.

“While we continue doing our best to keep operations smooth, we recommend planning ahead. Any changes to your flight schedule will be shared via your registered contact details, so do ensure they’re up to date. Check your flight status on our website or app before heading to the airport. And with waterlogging and slow-moving traffic likely, allow some extra time for your commute,” the post added.

According to the IMD bulletin, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra will see light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers till September 18.

On Monday as heavy rains inundated several parts of Pune, around 70 persons were evacuated from a village.

“After receiving a call about inundation in some areas of Theur village, a team of PMRDA’s fire department and disaster management was dispatched. Heavy rains led to the inundation as a drain carrying the water was narrow in some places, causing the spillover. As a precaution, we evacuated 60 to 70 persons from some houses and took them to safety,” fire officer Vijay Maharaj told PTI.
