Vivek Oberoi REACTS to cousin Akshay Oberoi’s remark

Vivek Oberoi REACTS to cousin Akshay Oberoi’s ‘no real relationship’ remark; recalls memories of growing up together

Akshay Oberoi, known for films like ‘Fighter,’ surprised many when he openly spoke about his distant bond with his cousin, ‘Saathiya’ star Vivek Oberoi. Akshay admitted with sadness that he had ‘no real relationship’ with Vivek and revealed that their families never really got along. Now, Vivek has finally broken his silence on this. For those unversed, Vivek’s father, Suresh Oberoi, and Akshay’s father, Krishnan Oberoi, are brothers.

What did Akshay Oberoi say?

In an interview with The Free Press Journal, Akshay revealed that despite being cousins, there was never any real connection between him and Vivek. He said, “It’s not like I could call and approach him either. Unfortunately, I don’t say it with pride; I say it with sadness that there was no real relationship. So, what would I call and ask him? I just went about my own way.”

Vivek Oberoi REACTS to cousin’s comments

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Vivek recalled asking his cousin what his interview was about. Akshay then told him that his words had been misinterpreted. The ‘Prince’ actor said, “As far as I’m concerned, I love Akshay, and I am very proud of what he has done. As a family, we are always there at each other’s birthdays. They always come to our house on Diwali or my parents’ anniversary. So, we have a lot of celebrations together, and we have some great memories of growing up together.” He added that while Akshay’s words might have been taken differently, it was best that his cousin speak for himself.

Vivek talks about their journey in the film industry

The ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ actor also reflected on how both he and Akshay managed to build their own paths without relying on family connections in the film industry. He explained, “The one thing though, which is true and I’m very proud of him for, is that he has made his path his own way, just like I’m proud that I did my own way too. I didn’t have any uncle, aunt, chacha, taya, or mama saying, ‘I’m going to launch you, and you are going to get a break because of me.’ I never had that kind of support system. Whatever I am today, I have been through the grind, worked hard, and God’s been kind.”Vivek further praised his cousin’s achievements, making it clear that Akshay’s recognition is entirely self-earned. He said, “And the same goes for Akshay. Every bit of success and acclaim that he has is well deserved, because he is the only one responsible for it, and that’s how it should be. It shouldn’t be because of whose nephew you are, whose cousin you are, or whose friend you are. It should be based on pure merit. And Akshay has achieved everything on his own merit, and I am very proud of it.” Go to Source
