Nick Rei e , 32, who is accused of fatally stabbi g his pa e ts i thei Los A geles home last Decembe , pleaded ot guilty o Wed esday to two cou ts of mu de with a special ci cumsta ce afte the ew g a d-ju y i dictme t was u sealed.

The i dictme t, which allows p osecuto s to skip Califo ia’s p elimi a y hea i g p ocess, did ot specify details o Rei e ‘s alleged actio s the ight his pa e ts died.

“This was a p ofou d bet ayal by someo e who was loved a d t usted by the ve y people he is accused of killi g,” p osecuto s said.

The g a d ju y i dictme t, etu ed o 20 July, amplifies the cha ge by addi g a special ci cumsta ce allegatio that the Rei e allegedly committed the mu de s by mea s of lyi g i wait.

The allegatio mea s that Rei e is ow eligible fo the death pe alty – which has bee tempo a ily halted i the state – but p osecuto s have ot said if they will pu sue it.

“We hope that by havi g a g a d ju y etu a i dictme t i this case it will b i g us o e step close to a t ial a d achievi g justice,” Los A geles Cou ty Dist ict Atto ey Natha Hochma said.
