Qatar will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha on September 14 and 15, following an Israeli strike earlier this week that targeted Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital.
The summit will take place this Sunday and Monday, according to an announcement by Qatar’s state news agency on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Israel launched an airstrike in Doha aimed at senior Hamas figures. While Hamas stated that its top leaders survived the attack, five of its members were killed, along with a member of Qatar’s security forces.
Hamas identified the slain members as Humam al-Hayya, son of top negotiator Khalil al-Hayya; Jihad Labad, his office director; and bodyguards Ahmad Mamlouk, Abdallah Abdelwahd, and Mumen Hassoun.
Qatari authorities confirmed the death of Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari. They also acknowledged the deaths of three Hamas members in the incident.
Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said he hoped for a united regional response to the attack. He confirmed that Doha would host an Arab-Islamic summit to decide the next steps.
“There are two levels of response. Qatar will act through international law, as any civilized nation should. Regionally, there are ongoing consultations, including an Arab–Islamic summit here in Doha in the coming days. We want a collective response strong enough to deter Israel from further aggression,” Qatari Prime Minister said.
