The English-language trailer of ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, debuted late last night and has already won over fans online. While the clip was almost the same as the Hindi and other multilingual trailers that released last week, this one gave audiences a tease of its cutting-edge AI-powered lip-sync technology – Brahma AI.Shortly after the trailer launch, fans took to social media to praise the trailer for seamlessly matching the actors’ lip movements with the English dialogues. Released a week after the Hindi trailer, the English version features Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi and the principal cast reportedly dubbing their own dialogues in English, instead of using international voice actors. While explaining the film’s ambitious global rollout, the makers shared details about localising the film using the AI-driven lip-sync technology developed by DNEG that synchronises an actor’s mouth movements with dubbed dialogue across multiple languages.
Fans hail ‘Ramayana’ lip-sync tech
The technology quickly became the biggest talking point with several viewers hailing the clip for looking remarkably natural. One user wrote, “Didn’t expect this to be this original. I thought they will force Indian characters into American accents, but the voices actually retain their original identity. The lip sync is incredibly well done.”Another praised the technology, posting, “Brahma AI has done its job, the dialogues are matching perfectly with the mouth movements.”

Several fans went a step further, suggesting, “Ramayana’s AI Lip Sync is the future of Global Cinema,” one post read, while another added, “The AI Lip-Sync in #Ramayana English Trailer Is Genuinely Mind-Blowing. Is This the Future of Global Cinema?” Another wrote, “The critics for the English dubbed trailer is needed. If we talk about dubbing then Ranbir’s dubbing is apt and somewhat better than the Hindi dubbing. This is not the final version, the dubbing in the movie will be entirely different, lots of changes will take place, the foreign reception is good for the trailer. Lip sync is good, I think the difference in voice is also good, overall feels like a good attempt… but dialogue feels too formal and AI.”
