Heavy monsoon rains have created severe challenges across several parts of India, with flash floods, cloudbursts, and waterlogging affecting both hill and plain regions. In Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, sudden flash floods in Nahan left several people stranded, who were later rescued safely by teams using ropes. In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, a seasonal stream overflowed in Vikas Nagar, trapping a car amid strong currents and debris before it was rescued. Jammu and Kashmir witnessed major damage after cloudbursts triggered floods in Shopian, Bandipora, and Kupwara, washing away bridges, damaging houses, and causing losses to livestock and farmland. In the plains, heavy rainfall led to waterlogging in Gujarat’s Surendranagar, Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli, and Gurugram, affecting traffic and daily life. Haryana’s Hathnikund Barrage also saw increased water pressure, forcing authorities to open gates. In Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi, a mini-bus parked near the Kamvari River was swept away by rising waters. Authorities have advised people to avoid rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas as weather conditions remain unstable.
