FSSAI cracks down on liquor brands over misleading labels, flavour claims
FSSAI launched enforcement action against several liquor manufacturers, including makers of Old Monk, McDowell’s and Bagpiper, alleging misleading labelling, age claims and non-permitted flavouring practices. The regulator said some products were wrongly marketed as standard rum or whisky despite being made largely from neutral spirit, and prohibited the sale of specific variants.
