Phil Collins was admitted to a Swiss hospital in late 2023 for alcohol addiction. While the ‘Against All Odds’ hitmaker was discharged initially, he was re-hospitalised in an intensive care unit and was mostly unconscious the second time. “My kidneys were packing up, my organs were just seizing up,” Collins said to The Times, and continued, “People were coming to say goodbye. But I don’t remember them coming. I didn’t have no idea this was going on. They were all worried that they wouldn’t see me again. It could all have gone so terribly wrong.”Furthermore, Collins claimed that his five children rushed to the hospital thinking that he was going to pass away. “There were some decisions to be made about ‘Do we keep Phil on life support?’ kind of thing,” he said about the 2024 hospitalisation. Expressing his gratitude for coming out of the situation, the renowned singer affirmed that he has not touched alcohol ever since.
Phil Collins expresses being hopeful of finding love again at 75
In the aforementioned interview, Phil Collins candidly expressed his view on love and relationships at the age of 75. Two years after suffering from a life-threatening incident, the ‘Easy Lover’ singer shared that he would love to fall in love. “I’d love to be in love again,” Collins said to the outlet, and added, “I would love a relationship. Kissing somebody, for example. You know, pretty basic stuff.” As for the professional life of Phil Collins, he is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist on November 14, 2026, at Peacock Theatre, Los Angeles.
