A senior municipal official was killed in a shocking attack in Bihar’s Rohtas district, prompting a high-level police investigation. Vimal Kumar, Executive Officer (EO) of the Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council, was allegedly assaulted while returning to Patna late at night. He was rushed to Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Jamuhar, where doctors declared him dead. According to preliminary information, unidentified assailants allegedly intercepted the official’s vehicle by overtaking it on the highway. The attackers reportedly forced the vehicle to stop, restrained the driver, and then assaulted Vimal Kumar with a sharp-edged weapon. Police said the victim’s body bore multiple injury marks consistent with a violent attack. Authorities have ruled out gunshot injuries, while the exact cause of death will be confirmed through the post-mortem examination. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and investigators are exploring all possible angles. The government driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody for questioning after initially leaving the scene. Family members of the deceased have alleged that the murder was the result of a planned conspiracy, with the victim’s wife accusing the driver of involvement in the crime. Police have not confirmed these allegations and stated that the investigation is continuing. Vimal Kumar was a resident of Sherghati in Gaya district, while his family currently resides in Patna. Police teams from Rohtas and Aurangabad districts are jointly investigating the case, collecting forensic evidence, and questioning witnesses to identify those responsible.
