‘Jana Nayagan’ star Vijay watched Dhanush’s ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ with fans

'Jana Nayagan' star Vijay watched Dhanush's 'Thiruchitrambalam' with fans in Hyderabad and called the actor after the screening to laud his performance, reveals lyricist Vivek

Lyricist Vivek has shared an interesting memory of watching Dhanush’s ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ with actor Vijay, giving fans a rare insight into the ‘Jana Nayagan’ actor’s love for cinema. During a recent interview, Vivek recalled how Vijay insisted on watching the film in a theatre despite the security challenges. The lyricist said the experience remains one of his favourite memories, especially because of Vijay’s genuine appreciation for good storytelling and performances.

Vijay insisted on booking tickets to watch ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ in theatres

Vivek said he first watched ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ in a theatre in Hyderabad and met Vijay the very next day, when the actor was shooting for Varisu. Recalling their conversation in a chat with SS Music, Vivek said, “Vijay sir asked me, ‘When did you watch the film? Why didn’t you invite me?’ I replied, ‘Sir, I thought it would be difficult because of your security.’ He immediately said, ‘That’s not an issue. You book the tickets. Book them now.'” Vivek added that he then booked tickets at Mahesh Babu’s AMB Mall in Hyderabad. “He planned everything perfectly. He wore a cap and a mask, and we quietly went to watch the film together,” he recalled.

Vijay praised Dhanush after the screening

According to Vivek, Vijay was deeply impressed by ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ and did not wait long to express his appreciation. “As soon as the movie ended, Vijay sir called Dhanush and told him, ‘The film was really good. You have done a wonderful job,'” Vivek revealed.Released in August 2022, ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ featured Dhanush in the lead alongside Nithya Menen, Raashii Khanna, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Bharathiraja. Directed by Mithran R. Jawahar, the heartwarming family drama was lauded for its emotional storytelling, characters that audiences could relate to, and powerful performances, with the movie turning out to be both a critical and commercial hit.

A rare off-screen moment highlights Vijay’s admiration for good cinema

When ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ was successfully running in theatres, Vijay was busy shooting for ‘Varisu’ in Hyderabad at the time. And despite his busy shooting schedule, he managed to find time to watch the film on the big screen, keeping the outing low-key with a cap and mask. Vivek’s memory has been entertaining fans, giving them a rare sight of Vijay as a film fan who enjoys celebrating the work of fellow actors. The story has also reminded audiences of the mutual respect shared by some of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars outside the spotlight. Go to Source
