Political Storm: Jantar Mantar Protest Ends, Political Battle Continues

The Jantar Mantar protest may have ended, but political tensions continue. New Education Minister Prahlad Joshi has taken charge and held his first meeting with officials. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has intensified his attack on the government by writing a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah over the police action during the July 20 student protest. Rahul questioned who ordered the lathi charge and the use of pellet guns against students. He also asked whether people seen in plain clothes during the action were police personnel or volunteers, and who authorized their deployment. The resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has triggered a political credit war, with Congress claiming Rahul Gandhi’s pressure forced the government’s decision. Congress has demanded accountability from Amit Shah and shared videos of the police action. The BJP has rejected these allegations. BJP leader Tarun Chugh accused Rahul Gandhi of using youth issues for political gains and said Congress has no genuine concern for students’ future. The issue is expected to create further clashes between the government and opposition in Parliament.
