Ryan Gosling seems ready to join the superhero realm! According to recent reports, the actor has confirmed that he is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. Riding high from his work in ‘Project Hail Mary,’ Gosling has joined another big-budget project, and fans will see him in the avatar soon. Here’s what we know so far about his casting.
Ryan Gosling joins MCU as Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider, or Johnny Blaze, is one of Marvel’s most coveted roles. While the production house was presenting at the Hall H event at San Diego Comic-Con, they confirmed Ryan Gosling is joining the MCU roster. PEOPLE reported that the 45-year-old Oscar nominee will be taking on the title to become the next Ghost Rider. Kevin Feige, one of the studio executives, confirmed the news on stage, while Gosling, who was also present during the event, shared just how excited he was about the opportunity.“As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a long time,” he stated. ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Wolverine’ filmmaker Shawn Levy, who will be directing a brand new Marvel standalone film where Gosling’s Ghost Rider will appear, was also at the event. Talking about the upcoming project, Levy shared, “I’m having the greatest flashback vibes here, because I was here two years ago when we showed Deadpool & Wolverine. I’ll never forget that night, because I was introduced to the greatest fans. Gosling is the absolute s—. I say that with tremendous respect. We spent a lot of time last year making Starfighter, and the opportunity as Ryan started talking about this character, I was like, ‘Bro, let’s ride.’ We’ll see you in 2028!”Earlier this year in March, after rumours of the role had started spreading online, Gosling had appeared on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast and at the time had shared that some discussions were being held. He had stated at the time that, “Some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation.”

Gosling will take over the mantle from Nicholas Cage, who first appeared as the motorcyclist Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider in the 2007 film of the same name. He appeared in the film alongside Gosling’s long-time partner, Eva Mendes, with whom he shares two daughters. The first film shows Blaze’s deal with the devil and how he transformed into the fiery vigilante who sends rotten souls to hell.Cage then again reprised his role in 2011 for the sequel film titled ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.’
