LIC’s stake in Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles rose to 5.03% (18.51 crore shares) from 4.99% (18.40 crore).Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has increased its stake in Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd to over 5 per cent after purchasing additional shares through the open market, according to a regulatory disclosure.
The state-owned insurer acquired 11.64 lakh equity shares, representing 0.031 per cent of the company’s voting capital, through a market purchase on July 23, 2026.
Following the acquisition, LIC’s shareholding in Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles increased to 18.51 crore shares, or 5.028 per cent, from 18.40 crore shares, or 4.997 per cent earlier.
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is one of the largest institutional investors in Indian automakers, with significant and actively managed stakes across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and commercial vehicle segments.
In Q4 FY26 alone, LIC bought ~₹18,500 crore of shares across companies, including large auto-related buys like Maruti Suzuki (~₹1,374 crore) and Hyundai Motor India (~₹1,390 crore).
