Paper Leak Row: PM Modi Announces Tough Anti-Paper Leak Law, Fast-Track Courts, Rahul Gandhi Hits Back

Amid the ongoing student protests over the paper leak controversy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a series of major measures to address the issue. In a late-night video message, he described paper leaks as a serious matter that has caused immense distress to students and their families. Modi said the government has prepared a draft for a stringent anti-paper leak law, which will be placed before the Cabinet for approval and introduced during the current Monsoon Session of Parliament. He also announced the creation of special fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials and strict punishment for those involved in paper leak cases.  The Prime Minister stated that the accused have already been arrested and jailed, while the government ensured that 22 lakh students did not lose an academic year by conducting fresh examinations and declaring results promptly. Following his announcement, the first fast-track court was reportedly established in Delhi. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dismissed the Prime Minister’s address as an attempt at damage control and demanded the immediate dismissal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
