Mercedes-Benz India on Wednesday said it has launched the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+, marking the debut of its first electrified AMG E-Class sedan in the country as the luxury carmaker continues to strengthen its plug-in hybrid portfolio under its powertrain-agnostic strategy.

According to the official press release, priced at ₹1.45 crore for the Performance Edition and ₹1.48 crore for the Racing Edition (ex-showroom), the AMG E 53 Hybrid combines a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a system output of 430 kW (585 hp), which increases to 450 kW (612 hp) with the RACE START function.

Performance-focused plug-in hybrid

The sedan accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph, extendable to 280 kmph with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. It offers a pure electric driving range of over 100 km (WLTP) through a 28.6 kWh battery pack and supports AC charging up to 11 kW.

“The E-Class has been the longest-running nameplate in the Indian automotive industry and the AMG E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ underlines performance, practical usability and electric efficiency, making the E-Class portfolio truly unmatched,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

The company said the model features AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, AMG Ride Control suspension and hybrid-specific drive modes designed to balance daily usability with track-focused performance.

Mercedes backs Indian Padel Tour

Alongside the product launch, Mercedes-Benz India announced a multi-year title partnership with the Indian Padel Tour for the 2026-27 season, marking the brand’s entry into India’s rapidly growing padel ecosystem.

The Mercedes-Benz Indian Padel Tour will feature 19 tournaments across 10 cities, including 10 City Opens, five Grand Slams and four special events, beginning in Mumbai in August 2026 and concluding in Bengaluru in June 2027.

Mercedes-Benz customers will receive exclusive access to padel courts, dedicated Padel Days, priority tournament registrations and direct entry into Grand Slam events for AMG E 53 Hybrid buyers.

According to Iyer, the partnership reflects the company’s strategy of creating premium lifestyle experiences beyond automobiles while engaging with emerging communities that value performance, precision and innovation.
