Parliament Clash: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha Adjourned Till 2 PM Amid NEET Debate Standoff

The proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm after continued disruptions by opposition members over the NEET paper leak issue. The deadlock continued despite the government and the Speaker stating that a discussion on the matter could be held. Lok Sabha Speaker informed members that both the government and opposition wanted a debate and that discussions were possible. He urged floor leaders of all parties to decide the timing, duration, and rules under which the discussion should take place. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said in the House that the government was fully prepared for a discussion on the NEET paper leak issue. He stated that such a debate must follow parliamentary procedures and requested discussions among party leaders to finalise the format and schedule. However, opposition leaders continued demanding accountability and raised concerns over the treatment of protesting students. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav alleged that student-related issues were not being addressed adequately and demanded answers from the government. Opposition members also questioned why the Prime Minister had not addressed the issue in Parliament. The opposition has maintained that it wants a detailed discussion on NEET-related concerns but has also demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan before participating in the debate. Government leaders, meanwhile, have insisted that discussion should happen first and decisions can follow through parliamentary procedures. The latest developments highlight the continuing standoff between the ruling side and opposition parties. Although the government has expressed readiness for a debate and the Speaker has offered a framework for discussion, uncertainty remains over whether the opposition will participate without its demand for resignation being addressed.
