Breaking: IAF Launches Massive Rescue Mission as Assam Floods Worsen, Monsoon Havoc Spreads Across India

Severe monsoon conditions continue to batter several parts of India, with Assam emerging as one of the worst-hit states. In Sivasagar district, widespread flooding has submerged villages, disrupted road connectivity, and forced thousands of residents to seek shelter on rooftops and elevated structures. The Indian Air Force has intensified rescue operations, deploying helicopters to conduct aerial surveys, evacuate stranded families, and deliver essential relief supplies to inaccessible areas. National Disaster Response Force teams are also carrying out ground rescues, saving people trapped inside floodwaters and shifting them to safer locations. Similar flood conditions have affected Jorhat, where rising water levels have inundated homes and roads, compelling residents to use boats and carry household belongings to safer places. Elsewhere, Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district is witnessing increasing erosion along the Saryu River, raising concerns among riverside communities despite the river remaining below the danger mark. In Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, heavy rainfall has caused the Parwan River to overflow, submerging a riverside temple and a low-level bridge, disrupting local movement. Bihar’s Saharsa district is also facing worsening flood conditions as the Kosi River expands into villages and surrounds a primary school, making access difficult for teachers and students. Meanwhile, in Leh, relentless rainfall has increased river flow, threatening the stability of a bridge due to severe erosion around its foundations. Authorities across the affected regions remain on high alert, closely monitoring water levels and expanding relief measures as forecasts indicate continued rainfall. Emergency response agencies have urged residents in vulnerable areas to follow official advisories and relocate promptly if evacuation orders are issued, while rescue teams continue round-the-clock operations to minimize casualties and ensure humanitarian assistance reaches affected communities.
