'Ban Muslims from office': Laura Loomer calls Zohran Mamdani 'national security risk'

Zohran Mamdani and Laura Loomer (R)

America’s far-right activist and Donald Trump loyalist Laura Loomer on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war criminal” and said he was “not welcome in New York City.”Loomer, who is Jewish, called for a ban on Muslims holding public office in the United States and urged President Donald Trump to reinstate a “Muslim ban.””Ban Muslims from holding office in America,” Loomer said. She also appealed directly to MAGA supremo, writing: “We are never going to Make America Safe Again until President Trump goes back to implementing his Muslim ban. This time, make it a Muslim Ban as it was intended to be. Not an Islamic travel ban.”Taking to X, Loomer accused Mamdani of sympathising with Iran and Hamas, and claimed, without providing evidence, that he posed a national security risk. “When you allow Muslims to participate in the American political system, you get Twelver Shia Iran regime sympathizers and Hamas lovers like Mamdani governing the largest city in America. It won’t end well.” She further claimed that Mamdani would never receive FBI security clearance, saying, “I’m just glad the Trump administration confirmed to me that Mamdani will never be given an FBI clearance.” Citing an unnamed source, Loomer wrote, “My senior FBI source told me, ‘Senior FBI leadership has reason to believe Mamdani may be having direct communication with Islamic terrorist organizations. He is certainly a national security risk which is why we declined giving him an FBI approved security clearance. He won’t be getting one.'”Loomer added, “I pushed very hard for that to be the case even before Mamdani was elected,” and further claimed, “Shocking my FBI source confirmed to me that they allegedly have reason to believe Mamdani is having direct communication with terror orgs.”The remarks came after Mamdani intensified his criticism of Netanyahu in a video posted on X on Tuesday, saying the Israeli leader was “not welcome in New York City” and urging the US federal government to enforce the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant against him.Calling Netanyahu “a war criminal,” Mamdani accused him of committing atrocities during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.”He is a war criminal, the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people,” Mamdani said. He further alleged that Netanyahu was responsible “for the maiming of tens of thousands of children as those who survive undergo amputation without anaesthesia. For the targeting of neonatal hospitals and maternity care centres, denying newborns even the chance to live. For the countless people he starved as he blocked food and humanitarian aid from reaching them.”Referring to the ICC arrest warrant, Mamdani said: “There is a reason the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. As I’ve said, I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and tried for his crimes as I do for anyone else charged by the ICC.”
