‘La La Land’: New poster finally adjusts Ryan Gosling’s hand

'La La Land': New poster finally adjusts Ryan Gosling's hand ahead of 10th-anniversary release

Ten years after Ryan Gosling vented his guilt for keeping his hand tilted in ‘La La Land,’ the film’s poster has finally been changed. The 45-year-old actor took Hollywood by storm in 2016 when he revealed his regret about a particular dance position. Not only did he initially think the curve would look ‘cool,’ but the frame also became the official poster for the film in plain sight. Now, in the poster for the 10th-anniversary re-release of the award-winning film, Gosling’s hand has been subtly edited to look upward, mirroring Emma Stone. Here’s a closer look at the brand-new ‘La La Land’ poster featuring Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and his fixed posture.

Ryan Gosling’s hand is fixed in the ‘La La Land’ poster

After winning a record-breaking seven Golden Globes and six Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Cinematography, ‘La La Land’ will re-release in theatres starting Sunday, August 16, 2026. “A minor adjustment,” the caption read, while announcing the anniversary celebration on the silver screen. This time, the purple faded to dark, and Ryan Gosling’s hand saw the ray of light. In 2024, the Academy Award-winning actor expressed that the poster continued to haunt him even after the film’s inspirational success. “We’re dancing, Emma and I, and I didn’t know this would become the poster for the movie. We were supposed to have our hands up, and I thought it would be cool to put my hand [more flat] even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool. I was sure it was cooler,” he said during an interview with The Wall Street Journal. Calling the film ‘La La Hand,’ the actor stated, “Now when I look at it, and I have to see it all the time, you know what would’ve been cooler… [the intended pose]. It just killed the energy that way. I call it La La Hand.”

About ‘La La Land’

Directed by Damien Chazelle, ‘La La Land’ revolves around the poignant love story of pianist Seb and actress Mia. Torn between their aspirations, the plot consists of all the emotions with the answers to ‘would’ve been, could’ve been, and should’ve been.’ Starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, the film is deemed a modern classic by fans.
