Inside Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ filming locations

As the story is rooted in Greek mythology, much of the production was based in the Messenia region, one of Greece’s most dramatically beautiful coastal areas. Voidokilia Beach, a crescent-shaped stretch of pristine Mediterranean shoreline, served as one of the film’s key coastal backdrops. Nearby, Nestor’s Cave was reportedly used for scenes involving the Cyclops, one of Odysseus’ most legendary and terrifying encounters, while the medieval Methoni Castle overlooking the sea provided an authentically ancient and imposing historical setting.
