Indian techie in Ohio dies from 'rare, life-threatening condition'; felt severe pain in left leg after dinner

Indian techie died in Ohio after a rare and fatal medical emergency.

A 34-year-old software professional living in Ohio died from what his family members called a rare and devastating medical emergency called ‘Type A Aortic Dissection’. Venkata Raviteja (“Ravi”) Ravipati was immediately hospitalized and underwent a major surgery, but he could not be saved. The incident took place between July 17 and 18. A fundraiser set up by friends and family described the sudden emergency that occurred after Ravi had dinner. He suddenly started experiencing severe pain in his left leg that spread to his chest. The family called 911 and he was taken to the nearest emergency room where doctors said he was suffering from a Type A Aortic Dissection and an immediate surgery was required.Ravi was shifted to the University Hospitals in Cleveland but even after a surgery he did not recover and he died.”Ravi was a loving husband, a devoted father to his precious 2-year-old son, a caring son, and a dear friend to so many. A software professional living in Cleveland, Ohio, he was full of dreams for his young family and had recently celebrated the purchase of their new home. His parents had traveled from India just days earlier to celebrate this joyful milestone with him. None of us could have imagined that this celebration would turn into unimaginable heartbreak,” the fundraiser said. “He leaves behind his 26-year-old wife and their 2-year-old son, whose lives have been forever changed in a single night. As Ravi was in the United States on an H-1B visa, his family now faces not only overwhelming grief but also significant financial and practical challenges as they navigate an uncertain future,” it said.

What is Type A Aortic Dissection?

Type A dissection occurs when the tear develops in the ascending part of the aorta just as it branches off the heart. It is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate surgical intervention.
