Political Front: Kharge Slams Police Action as Student Protest Reaches Near Parliament

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the government’s handling of student protests, alleging that the use of force against young protesters reflects a failure to address their concerns. Speaking on the ongoing demonstrations, Kharge raised issues related to unemployment, examination irregularities, and alleged suppression of students’ voices. Kharge questioned the government’s response to youth-related concerns and said that dialogue and accountability were needed instead of measures that could intensify public anger. He emphasized that issues affecting students and job seekers should be discussed seriously in Parliament. Meanwhile, security tensions increased near the Parliament complex as protesting students and demonstrators moved closer to the high-security area. Delhi Police stepped up security arrangements around Parliament gates and deployed crowd-control measures to prevent protesters from entering restricted zones. Tear gas shells were used to disperse the crowd after protesters reached near the Rail Bhawan area on the route toward Parliament. Security personnel maintained a strict perimeter around the complex, with additional forces positioned at key entry points. Authorities continued monitoring the situation as officials worked to prevent further movement toward sensitive areas. The developments unfolded during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, where opposition parties have been raising several issues, including examination-related concerns and youth-related matters. While opposition leaders accused the government of avoiding accountability, authorities maintained that security measures were necessary to protect the Parliament complex and ensure uninterrupted proceedings. The confrontation outside Parliament highlighted the growing political focus on student issues, with opposition leaders seeking discussions inside the House and protesters continuing demonstrations on the streets of Delhi.
