72nd National Film Awards: Dhanush says first National Award as director is unforgettable; says, ‘I’m truly humbled’
Actor and filmmaker Dhanush has shared an emotional reaction after securing two honours at the 72nd National Film Awards. His directorial venture ‘Raayan’ won the Best Regional Film award. At the same time, he received the Special Mention (Best Actor) honour for his performance in ‘Captain Miller’.Soon after the winners were announced, Dhanush took to X to express his gratitude.He wrote, “I’m truly humbled and overwhelmed to have received the National Award for Best Regional Film for ‘Raayan’ and the National Award (Special Mention – Best Actor) for ‘Captain Miller’. My heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed National Film Awards jury and the selection committee.” He added, “My sincere thanks to the press, media and the social media fraternity for their unwavering support throughout my career. This is my third National Award as an actor and my first National Award as a director. None of this would have been possible without my fans – the pillars of my strength. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Actor calls Captain Miller recognition deeply meaningful
Dhanush also opened up about receiving the Special Mention award for ‘Captain Miller’. He explained that the role remains one of the performances he values the most in his career.He wrote, “This recognition for ‘Captain Miller’ is especially close to me because I have always believed it to be my finest performance to date. Receiving a Special Mention for a performance I hold so dearly makes this honour even more meaningful.”Speaking about ‘Raayan’, Dhanush said winning his first National Award as a director is a memory he will always treasure.He concluded by saying, “And a first is always unforgettable. Mammootty celebrates Best Actor honour for ‘Bramayugam’
Veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty also reacted after being honoured at the 72nd National Film Awards. His portrayal of Kodumon Potty in ‘Bramayugam’ earned him the Best Actor award.In his social media post, Mammootty wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations to @dhanushkraja, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Shehnad Jalal, @Rajkumar_KP, Team Feminichi Fathima, Team Bhadra Kali Natakam, and all the winners of the coveted National Awards.
