Job market joke, healthcare broken, weather depressing: Redditor says moving to Canada was the worst mistake, ‘don’t fall for the dream they sell you online’

Job market joke, healthcare broken, weather depressing: Redditor says moving to Canada was the worst mistake, 'don't fall for the dream they sell you online'

Redditor says moving to Canada was the worst decision of life.

An NRI’s recent post ranting against everything in Canada has divided the Internet as the user announced the decision to come back to India after seven years. The Redditor is a permanent resident of Canada but says the plastic PR card is not worth it. The post does not mention any specific trigger for leaving Canada, like job loss or anything else, but paints a grim picture of the country.”It is insanely expensive: The cost of living is out of control. Rent takes up almost your entire paycheck, groceries are a luxury, and you’re basically just surviving, not living. You are trapped in a cycle of working just to pay bills,” the post said.”The job market is a joke: Finding a decent professional job is incredibly hard. They always demand “Canadian experience,” which is just a polite way of discounting all your hard work back home. So many highly educated immigrants end up stuck in survival jobs,” the Redditor said on the job situation in Canada.”The healthcare system is broken: Good luck getting a family doctor. If you get sick, you’ll wait hours in the ER or months just to see a specialist. It’s scary how difficult it is to get basic medical care.” ”The weather is depressing: The winters are freezing, dark, and they drag on for six months. It seriously takes a toll on your mental health,” the person wrote adding that Australia is much better, brighter and happier than Canada.”I’m done trying to convince myself that it will get better. I’ve booked my ticket and I am officially moving back to India. If you are planning to immigrate, please think twice. Don’t fall for the dream they sell you online. Canada is not what it used to be, and for me, it was the baddest move of my life,” the person said. Many social media users asked why the Redditors realized all teh negatives of Canada after getting a PR and how going back to India will be any better. “This is like buying a cycle because your car has bad suspension,” one wrote mockingly.”I am in Canada for the past 10 years. I have had a successful career in IT and have built a net worth close to 1 million CAD (no real estate). I work in the IT department of a Canadian bank,” another wrote.A Canadian citizen who moved to India weighed in with experience of both sides. “If you’ve lived your whole life in a fast-paced Tier 1 Indian city like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, or Hyderabad and enjoy the constant activity, nightlife, and being around family, Canada may feel quiet and isolating. But if you’re looking for cleaner air, safer food, better public systems, a predictable work culture, and a chance to build a life independently, Canada still has a lot to offer,” the person wrote.
