Bachchan has invested Rs 90-100 crore in Ayodhya, Ranbir bought plot worth Rs 3.3 crore

Amitabh Bachchan has invested Rs 90-100 crore in Ayodhya, Ranbir Kapoor bought plot worth Rs 3.3 crore: Here's why the Ram Mandir town is emerging as a real estate hotspot

Ayodhya has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing real estate destinations following the consecration of the Ram Mandir, attracting high-profile investors and witnessing a major infrastructure boom. Bollywood celebrities are not far behind. Among the biggest names to invest in the temple town are Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor, who have collectively acquired premium land parcels as the city transforms into a luxury real estate, spiritual tourism and infrastructure hub.Amitabh Bachchan has made the largest celebrity investment in Ayodhya so far, with his total land acquisitions estimated to be worth over Rs 90–100 crore. The veteran actor was also the first major celebrity to invest in the city’s luxury real estate. His property portfolio includes an initial 10,000 sq. ft. plot worth around Rs 14.5 crore, purchased ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration, followed by a 5,372 sq ft parcel valued at Rs 4.54 crore. He later acquired a sprawling 25,000 sq. ft. luxury plot near the Sarayu development for nearly Rs 40 crore. Through his family-owned company, AB Corp Ltd, Bachchan also purchased a 67-acre land parcel for Rs 35 crore. In addition, a 54,454 sq. ft. plot has been registered in the name of the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust, where a memorial dedicated to his father is proposed to be established.Beyond celebrity investments, Ayodhya is witnessing a massive infrastructure overhaul, with projects worth nearly Rs 85,000 crore aimed at transforming it into a global pilgrimage destination. The city is already home to the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and the redeveloped Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, while a 187-km Namo Bharat corridor connecting Kanpur and Ayodhya has also received approval, reducing travel time between the two cities to around 90 minutes. The city’s long-term connectivity plans include the proposed Rs 32,000-crore Kanpur-Ayodhya Namo Bharat Corridor as well as a Delhi-Ayodhya bullet train, which is expected to cover the 670-km journey in approximately two hours. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated an additional Rs 150 crore in its latest budget to strengthen infrastructure maintenance and further improve facilities for pilgrims visiting the holy city.As reported earlier, Ranbir has also entered Ayodhya’s premium real estate market with the purchase of a 2,134 sq. ft. plot in the Sarayu Township for Rs 3.31 crore. The investment comes ahead of the actor portraying Lord Ram in ‘Ramayana’. Speaking about the purchase, Kapoor described it as a “divine calling” and said he viewed it as a long-term investment that would become a family legacy.Ranbir’s next ‘Ramayana’ is set to release in theatres on Diwali.
