Daveigh Chase Estate Petition: Mother moves LA court for $400k

Daveigh Chase leaves USD 400,000-worth property without a will; mother files petition in Los Angeles Superior Court

Daveigh Chase, the renowned ‘Lilo & Stitch’ voice actor, passed away on June 16, 2026, in Los Angeles at the age of 35. The actress, who struggled with homelessness and addiction, left behind a six-figure property after her unfortunate demise due to advanced-stage complications from Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The young star passed away without a will, leading her mother to file a petition in the Los Angeles Superior Court on July 8, 2026, to acquire the property.According to the documents, Daveigh Chase was unhoused at the time of her passing, while listing a Chatsworth, Calif. , address as her last known residence, per PEOPLE. The late star’s estate comprises approximately USD 400,000 in personal property with no real property. The petition requests the court authorise Chase’s mother to administer the estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act of California and approve a USD 400,000 bond. The hearing has been scheduled for August 12, 2026. The documents further declare that Daveigh Chase was never married, nor had any children; she is survived by her mother, Cathy, and her father, John Schwallier. Additionally, Chase’s mother signed an acknowledgement, accepting the responsibilities if appointed as the estate’s personal representative. The list includes protecting estate assets, notifying creditors, maintaining financial records, and filing an inventory of the estate with the court, per the aforementioned outlet.

When Cathy opened up about Daveigh Chase

Cathy opened up about Daveigh Chase’s struggle with homelessness and addiction in an interview with the Daily Mail in June, adding that the beginning was being prescribed medication after a terrible motorcycle accident in 2016. “She was seeking drugs and was partying with the wrong people,” Cathy told the outlet, and added, “I never kicked my daughter out. She wanted freedom, and these people got her hooked on some drugs. That was the beginning.”
