Madonna has confirmed that her biopic project has officially been cancelled.
For the past couple of years, the topic of Madonna’s biopic has raised the ‘will it’ or ‘won’t it’ questions. However, the singer has now officially confirmed that despite all the effort put into bringing the project to life, her biopic is cancelled. Here’s what we know about the matter.

While talking to Interview Magazine, the famed 67 year old singer confirmed that she has officially scrapped the idea of her biopic. Mentioning concerns about the overall budget, the singer shared, “We had a falling-out, me and Universal, regarding budget. I’ve had an extraordinary life. I’ve had a huge life, so I needed a big budget. You know what I mean?”After the film idea was dropped a popular OTT platform was interested in investing in the biopic as a miniseries. Reportedly, actress Julia Garner was slated to star in it, however, this project also fell through. The singer shared that she was told she had to pay a large amount to the initial studio company interested in the project if she wanted the biopic done.The thought of a series on the other hand was quite overwhelming for her, to which she added, “You have to meet a lot of writers and find the right showrunner. I was like, ‘Good thing I have another job, because I need to create. I need to do what I was put on this earth to do.’”She also commented, “Maybe they (the production house) just didn’t believe in me. One of their first reactions was, ‘We don’t believe you’d stay in Serbia more than four days.’ And I said, ‘Did you read the script?’ My whole life has been survival. I’m not going there for a holiday.”On the work front, while the fate of her biopic remains uncertain, Madonna has been continuing her musical career with the release of ‘Confessions II’ last month.
