During the interview, he even addressed the kind of love and praise that he has been getting for his work in ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga.’ He mentioned that the love that he has been receiving has been “quite overwhelming.” He also added, “The first couple of days or three days was a lot to take in. There were a lot of things being said about the film, which is now being unanimously loved by critics and audiences. The screenings that we went for… I have never seen reactions like that, and I felt it had to amount to something.”‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ performed low on its first few days at the box office. However, after the first week, when public reviews started gaining traction, the film ended up performing extremely well. According to reports shared by Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 92.45 crore worldwide. The film was originally released in theatres on June 12.While talking about the disappointing numbers at the start, and how the film started to perform well in the coming weeks, Raina commented, “It was very shattering. And then the turnaround took place. I guess it makes this entire thing even more special. There is no other example where it happened like this. I regained my faith in the fact that good films will find an audience.”During the interview, the actor discussed quite a lot of things, which also included his dream directors to work with. So far, Raina has worked with Zoya Akhtar, Vasan Bala and Imtiaz Ali. While talking about the same, he candidly admitted that he would love to work with Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese someday. He added, “There are so many Indian directors I’d love to work with as well, but if I’m dreaming as big as possible, I’d choose those two.”In ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, Raina played the younger version of Naseeruddin Shah’s character, Ishar Singh Grewal, aka ‘Keenu.’ He portrayed his life before the partition and how he was one of the thousands of people who were affected by the event.
