The first trailer for ‘Dune: Part Three’ has released online, offering fans a first look at director Denis Villeneuve’s epic conclusion to the sci-fi saga. The trailer premiered during an IMAX fan event, teasing a darker and politically charged chapter in the ‘Dune’ saga that will unfold on IMAX screens this December.

WATCH: ‘Dune: Part Three’ trailer

Set 17 years after ‘Dune: Part Two’, the film follows Paul Atreides’s rise to power as Emperor of the Imperium. Once guided by his prophetic visions, Paul finds his foresight slipping away. “The future has a way of talking to me,” Paul says, before adding, “I can’t see what’s ahead.” The footage also revisits Paul’s now strained relationship with Chani, portrayed by Zendaya. Following his political marriage to Princess Irulan, played by Florence Pugh, Chani’s bond with the Emperor seemingly begins to strain and become more complicated than ever.

Robert Pattinson joins the franchise as Scytale

The trailer also offers the first look at Robert Pattinson as Scytale, the shapeshifter who emerges as Paul’s latest adversary, gearing up to dethrone him and “strike the core of imperial power.”

‘Dune: Part Three’ official synopsis

“Dune: Part Three is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul must face the consequences of his reign as old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, and betrayal lurks in every shadow. Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a sweeping conspiracy, with Chani at the heart of its unfolding mystery. As rebellion brews and enemies close in, Paul must confront the true cost of power and the fate of those he loves the most.”

Denis Villeneuve and Timothee Chalamet on ‘Dune: Part Three’

Speaking during the IMAX fan event, Villeneuve revealed, “I went to my crew and said, ‘I’m taking a break. That’s it. Bye-bye.’ I went back home, and I kept waking in the middle of the night with those images. I was supposed to do another movie.”Timothee also shared his thoughts on the emotional ending of the Dune franchise. “I just couldn’t believe how quickly the experience came and went. Maybe because COVID was a weird thing that melted our sense of time, it felt long at times when you think about it, to make these three huge movies in six of seven years, its really not that long.”

Star-studded cast and release date

The film features an ensemble cast led by Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson and Javier Bardem.’Dune: Part Three’ is scheduled to open in international markets on December 16, before arriving in theatres in the United States on December 18.The release sets up one of the year’s biggest box office clashes, with the film debuting in the same holiday corridor as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The trailer will also be attached to IMAX screenings of ‘The Odyssey’ later this month, giving audiences another glimpse of the epic sci-fi sequel ahead of its theatrical release. Go to Source
