The Conjuring House to go on sale on Halloween

The Conjuring House acution: Farmhouse that inspired Hollywood horror franchise, to go on sale on Halloween

The farmhouse that inspired Hollywood’s most successful horror franchises of all time – ‘The Conjuring’- is going under the hammer. According to news reports, the Burrillville, Rhode Island property that was once home to the Perron family will be auctioned off at a mortgagee’s foreclosure auction on the spookiest night, Halloween, October 31. The house that became infamous for its hauntings, according to JJManning Auctioneers, will have supernatural fans, tourism companies and other bidders, placing their bids at 11 am local time.

About the house

The Perron farmhouse is a major part of The Conjuring lore, which grossed over $2.3 billion worldwide through its 9 films including sequels and spinoffs such as The Nun and Annabelle. The farmhouse, known over the years as Richardson House, the Arnold Estate, Old Brook Farm and now as The Conjuring House, was built in 1736, on an 8.5-acre plot. The house boasts of 14 rooms. It has three bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms, multiple living rooms and a library. The home shot to fame in 2013 with James Wan’s ‘The Conjuring’, which dramatised the haunting and investigations conducted by real-life paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens reportedly played a big part in assisting the Perron family, who claimed to be tormented by spirits linked to a witch named Bathsheba Sherman. “This antique farmhouse has become famous for historical paranormal sightings and activity,” the official auction listing notes, as reported by New York Post.

Why the house is being auctioned

Auctioneer Justin J. Manning said in a statement to People that the property is already drawing “more attention in one week than all of those others combined,” adding that he expects “builders, developers and fans of the supernatural” to compete for ownership.According to news reports and public records, the house last sold for $1.5 million in May 2022 to Boston-based real estate developer Jacqueline Nunez. She transformed it into a ghost tourism business, offering overnight stays and paranormal investigations. Howeve, her ownership of the haunted house, quickly became mired in controversy with reports of disputes with employees, including a claim that she fired a manager after a ghost allegedly told her that the worker was stealing. Just last year, she was also arrested on DUI charges and subsequently lost her entertainment license for the property. The house is being put up for sale allegedly due to series of lawsuits over unpaid wages, financial strain, and a mortgage default, pushing the property into foreclosure.

Celebrity interest

Comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee, both paranormal enthusiasts, expressed their interest in purchasing the famed farmhouse. The duo previously purchased and now co-owns the former Connecticut home of Ed and Lorraine Warren, which houses the couple’s occult collection, including the Annabelle doll. Go to Source
