‘Madharasi falls behind ‘Baaghi 4’ on Tuesday

‘Madharasi’ Box Office collection day 5: Sivakarthikeyan’s film falls behind Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 4’ on Tuesday; mints Rs 3.15 crore

Sivakarthikeyan’s action thriller ‘Madharasi’, directed by the celebrated AR Murugadoss, is keeping its grip on the box office. Released on 5 September, the action thriller arrived alongside Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 4’, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’ and Anushka Shetty’s ‘Ghaati’. Despite heavy competition, the film has managed to stand tall with strong numbers in its opening weekend.

A flying start for Sivakarthikeyan

‘Madharasi’ began its journey with an impressive Rs 13.65 crore on Friday, giving Sivakarthikeyan one of the best openings of his career. The buzz around Murugadoss’s return to direction, combined with Sivakarthikeyan’s star power, helped the film grab attention right from day one.Saturday and Sunday kept the momentum alive, with collections of Rs 12.10 crore and Rs 11.40 crore respectively. The film clearly showed its strength over the weekend as audiences flocked to cinemas for the action-packed entertainer. After the solid weekend, the film faced its first test on Monday. How ‘Madharasi’ compares with other releases

The release weekend was crowded, but ‘Madharasi’ has managed to stay in the lead when it comes to total earnings. Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 4’ has raced ahead on Tuesday with Rs 4 crore, reaching a total of around Rs 39.75 crore so far. However, despite its strong brand value, it is still behind ‘Madharasi’ in overall numbers.Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’ has collected Rs 9.19 crore so far, while Anushka Shetty’s ‘Ghaati’ has managed only Rs 6.05 crore. Against this backdrop, Sivakarthikeyan’s film is clearly the box office winner of the week.

‘Madharasi’ cast and plot

‘Madharasi’ brings together a strong line-up of actors. Alongside Sivakarthikeyan, the film stars Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth Santhosh, Monisha Vijay, Prem Kumar, Thalaivasal Vijay, Rishi Rithvik, and Shabeer Kallarakkal.‘Madharasi’ is not just about action and style. The story follows a police officer on a dangerous mission to stop a gang from smuggling illegal weapons into Tamil Nadu. What makes the plot more intense is the officer’s own personal battle. As he fights the criminals, he also struggles with his inner demons, giving the film both thrills and emotional depth.

‘Madharasi’ film review

The Times of India gave ‘Madharasi’ a 3-star rating. The review highlighted Sivakarthikeyan’s performance and Murugadoss’s return to form, “AR Murugadoss returns to form with a muscular action entertainer that is finds its anchor in Sivakarthikeyan’s robust performance as a man with Fregoli delusion – a disorder due to a tragedy in his past that makes him a compulsive do-gooder. Unlike his protagonist, Murugadoss fortunately seems to have had no delusions of making something very new; the film is every inch an old-school commercial potboiler that feels like a smartly packaged mix of the filmmaker’s Thuppakki, Ramana, and Ghajini.”The review further praised the cast, “A graceful Rukmini Vasanth as the love interest, a swaggering Vidyut Jamwal as the antagonist, and a reliably grounded Biju Menon provide ample support. Of course, the film uses the crutch commercial cinema’s creative licence – a hero who can take innumerable punches and not even a stray bullet, a villain who can make trained soldiers look like amateurs – a little too often, but there’s conviction in the filmmaking, with the technical team doing solid work, that keeps us from complaining.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
