Diljit Dosanjh recently opened up about the controversies regarding ‘Satluj’, how the team fought for the film’s rights for years, and how it is being silenced all over again. The actor got quite candid about the journey that everyone went through to get the film released, and that he has seen the efforts his fans have been making for the film.Read ahead to know more about what he had to share.

Diljit Dosanjh says he was not allowed to talk about the film

During one of his latest live sessions, the actor and singer had opened up about all the struggles the team went through to ensure that ‘Satluj’ saw the light of day. Following the day of the release, while getting on live and talking with fans about the film, Dosanjh revealed that he was not allowed to talk about the film up until its release.When a fan asked about why it was not released on another platform, he replied by saying, in Punjabi, “Till yesterday I was not even allowed to talk about the film with anyone. The film was directly released on the platform with no promotion whatsoever. Does this ever happen? The whole team worked so hard on the film.”He also shared that there are a lot of things that he wished to talk about; however, he cannot, though he still asked fans to keep supporting them and shared that he saw all of the videos and edits and posts that viewers had been making about the movie online.

‘Satluj’ removed from OTT after two days

After almost 4 years, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Satluj’, which was first titled ‘Punjab 95’, was released on a popular OTT platform. However, after two days, it was completely removed from the platform, “until further notice.”

As news of the film’s removal from ZEE5 spread online, Dosanjh addressed the matter during his live as well. He stated that the matter was silenced back in 1995, and the same thing is happening in 2026 with ‘Satluj.’ “Even today you are not allowing anyone to talk about it. Already the court has given its decision in the matter, and the film is talking about the same thing and is not trying to show something new.” However, he continued on a positive note and thanked everyone for watching the film and shared that he saw everyone’s efforts for spreading the film everywhere. He added that “The only thing that I am relieved about is the fact that you all have the film now, and the film cannot be stopped now.” Earlier on in the live, the actor had already stated that the news might come around that the film is being removed from the platform, however, he shared that he was happy to see people watching the film and sharing it everywhere they could.After the film’s removal, illegal downloading links started circulating online, with fans sharing links where ‘Satluj’ could be downloaded illegally.
