Severe monsoon rains have brought Maharashtra to a standstill, with Mumbai and Pune facing the worst impact. Continuous downpours have completely disrupted connectivity between the two cities, cutting off both road and rail transport. The Mumbai–Pune corridor has been severely affected, with multiple landslides reported at the Missing Link section as well as on the old Mumbai–Pune Expressway near Amrutanjan Bridge and Khalapur Toll Plaza. Heavy waterlogging has also been recorded on the old Mumbai–Pune Highway, forcing traffic to come to a halt and creating long jams, especially around Lonavala. The situation has worsened due to ongoing rainfall, which has increased the risk of further landslides and flooding. Thousands of daily commuters are stranded or facing major delays as both highways and railway services remain disrupted. Dramatic visuals from the region show water gushing from flyovers like waterfalls, highlighting the intensity of the rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected to continue for the next few days, leaving little hope for immediate relief. Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious.
