Severe monsoon conditions in Mumbai have turned the situation critical, with widespread flooding, strong winds, and high tide warnings affecting the city. At Juhu Chowpatty, heavy winds reaching around 60 kmph have caused debris and waste accumulation along the coastline, highlighting poor drainage and waste management issues. Authorities have issued alerts as a high tide of 14–15 feet is expected around 3:50 p.m., urging citizens to stay away from coastal areas. Despite repeated warnings from the police and administration, some people continue to visit Marine Drive and nearby beaches, putting themselves at risk. Meanwhile, rain-related disruptions have intensified across Mumbai and surrounding regions including Vasai, Virar, and Nalasopara, where severe waterlogging has submerged railway tracks and roads, forcing the use of tractors for transport in some areas. Landslides near Karjat and Lonavala have disrupted the Mumbai–Pune route, including the newly opened Missing Link section. Multiple transport systems, including rail and road networks, remain affected. Schools have been closed, and several organizations have shifted to work-from-home due to the red alert issued across multiple districts. Authorities continue to urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel and coastal exposure amid worsening conditions.
