Heavy rainfall has severely disrupted normal life in Mumbai, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issuing a red alert for the city and nearby areas, including Thane, Palghar and Navi Mumbai. Waterlogging was reported in several locations such as Lower Parel, Matunga, Wadala and Dadar, while homes and shops were inundated in Vasai-Virar. Rainwater also entered actor Amitabh Bachchan’s residence, Jalsa, in Juhu. A tree collapse in Ghatkopar damaged multiple vehicles, and a balcony slab fell from a house in Navi Mumbai, creating panic. Authorities have warned of strong winds reaching 30–40 kmph and a 14-foot high tide during the afternoon, increasing the risk of flooding. NDRF teams have been deployed, and the BMC is monitoring the situation through its control room and CCTV network. While local train services are currently operating normally, residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from seafront areas.
