The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms across 24 states over the next 48 hours. Delhi-NCR is expected to witness rain and gusty winds over the next four days, prompting weather advisories for residents. Meanwhile, Mumbai and several parts of Maharashtra, including Palghar and Thane, remain under a red alert due to the possibility of very heavy rainfall. On Saturday, intense showers lashed several areas of Mumbai, causing widespread waterlogging and disrupting normal life. Roads were submerged, with water entering homes and shops in low-lying areas. Traffic movement slowed significantly as several stretches became inundated. Heavy rainfall also affected railway operations, with water accumulating on tracks at multiple locations, leading to disruptions in Mumbai’s suburban local train services. Thousands of daily commuters faced delays and inconvenience due to the weather conditions. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have advised residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall.
