Eetha star Shraddha to visit Vitthabai Narayangaonkar’s village

'Eetha' star Shraddha Kapoor to visit Vitthabai Narayangaonkar's village as family drops objection to film title -Report

Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Eetha’ has resolved its title row after director Laxman Utekar clarified that Vitthabai Narayangaonkar was locally known as “Eetha.” Her grandson Mohit confirmed satisfaction and revealed Shraddha and the team will visit Narayangaon before the August 28 release, possibly hosting the premiere there. NCP leader Babasaheb Patil confirmed the visit.

Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Eetha’ has left its recent title controversy behind. As per reports, the family of legendary Lavani artist Vitthabai Narayangaonkar withdrew its objection after director Laxman Utekar explained the choice of the name Eetha. The family was reportedly convinced by the clarification, resolving the matter amicably. Ahead of the film’s promotions, Shraddha and the team are expected to travel to Narayangaon before its August 28 release. Reports also suggest the makers might hold the film’s premiere in the village itself.

Shraddha Kapoor’s film title row settled after director’s clarification

The row over Eetha’s title seems to have died down after director Laxman Utekar spoke with the family of legendary Lavani artist Vitthabai Narayangaonkar. Mohit Narayangaonkar, Vitthabai’s grandson, had previously objected to the name, arguing that the film should have been titled Vittha rather than Eetha. He has since said he is satisfied with the filmmaker’s clarification on the matter.

Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Eetha’ satisfies Vitthabai’s family

In a conversation with NDTV, Mohit said, “Yes, absolutely, we are satisfied. He spoke to us over the phone. We had requested that the film’s title be changed, but he explained that in the rural areas, Vitthabai was earlier known as ‘Eetha’. That is why they chose this title for the film. We have no problem with it now.” He also spoke positively about how the film portrays the Tamasha and Lavani community, adding, “The film has been made in a very positive way. It presents the Tamasha and Lavani community in a very positive light. We are satisfied. There is no issue.”

Shraddha Kapoor to visit Narayangaon before release

Mohit also shared that Shraddha and the film’s team are set to visit Narayangaon ahead of Eetha’s release on August 28. Clarifying whether the visit would take place after the film hits theatres, he said, “No, not after the release. Before the release.” He further mentioned that he had requested the makers to hold the film’s first premiere in Narayangaon, considered the pilgrimage site of Tamasha, and revealed that Laxman Utekar responded positively, assuring him that the entire team would make the trip to the village.

Shraddha Kapoor’s visit confirmed by NCP leader

Asked whether Shraddha would also be present during the visit, Mohit responded, “Yes, yes.” Babasaheb Patil, state president of the Film and Cultural Department of the Nationalist Congress Party, also confirmed that the visit is indeed being planned, saying, “Yes, they are going to meet them. That is absolutely correct.” He added that both Shraddha and Laxman are likely to be part of the trip, although the full schedule is still being worked out.

Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Eetha’ traces Vitthabai Narayangaonkar’s life

‘Eetha’, directed by Laxman Utekar, is a biographical drama that draws from the life of legendary Lavani artist Vitthabai Narayangaonkar. Shraddha plays the lead role, portraying the iconic performer’s journey through the world of Tamasha and Lavani while highlighting her struggles, resilience, and lasting impact on Maharashtra’s folk art heritage. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 28, 2026. Go to Source
