Heavy monsoon rains have created a widespread crisis across India, with several states reporting flooding, cloudbursts, and infrastructure damage. In Jammu and Kashmir, districts like Baramulla, Anantnag, and Doda witnessed severe waterlogging and landslides, while in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur, a major road was washed away by flash floods. In Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone, overflowing rivers submerged nearby roads and disrupted daily life. In Maharashtra, areas such as Vasai and Thane faced severe inundation, with vehicles getting stuck in floodwaters. The worst impact was seen in Mumbai, where overnight rainfall brought the city to a standstill, turning roads into streams and flooding homes in several low-lying areas. A ground report from the Andheri subway highlighted how quickly water levels rose within minutes, trapping vehicles and forcing authorities to block traffic. The incident exposed the city’s drainage challenges once again as commuters struggled through waterlogged roads. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid travel during heavy rainfall as the monsoon intensifies further across the country.
