The alleged donation theft at the Ayodhya Ram Temple has triggered political protests beyond Uttar Pradesh, with opposition parties staging demonstrations during the Maharashtra Assembly’s monsoon session in Mumbai. Legislators from the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Congress protested on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan, accusing the BJP of failing to ensure transparency in the handling of temple donations. The opposition demanded that the findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) be made public and questioned why the report had not yet been released. Protesters argued that the matter concerns the faith and donations of millions of devotees and called for complete accountability. While the Uttar Pradesh government has maintained that the temple trust independently manages temple affairs and that the SIT is conducting a fair investigation, opposition leaders insisted the government cannot distance itself from the controversy. They demanded full disclosure of the investigation and a transparent accounting of temple donations, saying the issue goes beyond politics and directly concerns public trust and religious accountability.
