Mammootty reacts to AMMA controversy: Actor calls issues ‘Small matters’ as Shwetha Menon explains resignation

Days after the resignation of the executive committee of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), veteran actor Mammootty shared his thoughts on the developments. As reported by India Today, when reporters sought his response to the ongoing controversy, Mammootty responded, “I was wondering why you hadn’t asked that yet.”The actor chose not to go into details, instead suggesting that people wait for the process to take its course. Speaking further about the situation, Mammootty stressed the importance of patience. He said, “Let things pan out, a decision will be reached; it’s okay.”Mammootty added, “We can only see things as they unfold, can’t we? The next moment is not in our hands, after all. All problems must be resolved, and they will be. These are just small matters, aren’t they?”

Shwetha Menon explains why she stepped down

Meanwhile, actor Shwetha Menon publicly opened up about the circumstances that led to her resignation.According to Shwetha Menon’s Instagram note, she faced misinformation campaigns and allegations even before the AMMA elections. She also stated that she remained committed to carrying out her responsibilities despite such challenges. In her statement, she wrote, “Part 1 – I thank everyone who has stood by me. But I feel it is important that I put my words before the public myself. The reason why I resigned is because I refused to be a puppet to anyone. AMMA യുടെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിന് മുമ്പ് തന്നെ ക്രൈം നന്ദകുമാർ, മാർട്ടിൻ മേനാച്ചേരി പോലുള്ളവരെ മുന്നിൽ നിർത്തി എനിക്കെതിരെ ദുഷ്പ്രചരണങ്ങളും കെട്ടിച്ചമച്ച ആരോപണങ്ങളും നടത്തി. Despite all that, I won the election with the support of the majority of AMMA members. I can assure them that I did everything to the best of my ability.”

Calls for transparency and audit

Shwetha also alleged that efforts to examine alleged irregularities from previous administrations were hindered. She wrote, “Unfortunately, certain vested interests made sure that we never got the opportunity to investigate the wrongdoings of certain previous committee members. The accounts of the past two terms, including ours, should be thoroughly reviewed. A forensic audit should be commissioned to ensure complete transparency and accountability.”The actor also addressed criticism that continued after her resignation. She claimed that attempts to target her reputation had not stopped and used the statement to respond to political labels attached to her by some critics.Shwetha categorically denied any association with political camps and stressed that she had maintained distance from political events regardless of who was in power.Shwetha Menon’s post received good responses from neizens. Actress Shamna Kasim wrote, “Correct decision at correct time.” Go to Source
