The controversy surrounding the alleged encounter of Bharat Tiwari in Bihar’s Bhojpur district continues to intensify as Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor reached Bilauti village to meet the victim’s family ahead of the scheduled Mahapanchayat. Accompanied by a large number of supporters, Kishor visited Bharat Tiwari’s residence and met his father Kashi Tiwari, brother Chandan Tiwari, and mother Asha Devi. He reiterated his support for the family and demanded justice, alleging that Bharat was shot after surrendering his weapon. The Mahapanchayat, being held around 400 meters from Bharat’s home, has become the focal point of growing public anger over the encounter. Local residents and supporters are demanding strict action against the police personnel involved, claiming it was a murder rather than a legitimate encounter. Authorities have already taken preliminary action. An FIR has been registered against five police personnel, including senior officers. Former Jagdishpur DSP Rajesh Sharma has been removed from his post and attached to police headquarters pending further orders. At the gathering, family members and supporters demanded the arrest of the accused officers and called for severe punishment, including capital punishment in some cases. Women supporters accompanying Prashant Kishor also emphasized the need for an impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible. The Mahapanchayat is expected to further amplify demands for justice and increase pressure on the Bihar government regarding the encounter case.
