NEET Re-Exam 2026: 22.79 Lakh Students to Appear Amid Unprecedented Security Arrangements

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination is being conducted today for nearly 22.79 lakh candidates across India and abroad after the original exam was cancelled due to a paper leak controversy. While the exam is crucial for students, it is also being viewed as a major test for the examination system and authorities responsible for conducting it. The examination will be held in a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM at 551 centres in India and 14 centres overseas. To ensure a fair and transparent process, authorities conducted a nationwide mock drill ahead of the exam and implemented extensive security measures. Strict checks have been put in place at examination centres, with candidates undergoing thorough screening before entry. Authorities have also taken steps to prevent paper leaks and misinformation, including monitoring online platforms and restricting suspicious activities. Special arrangements involving security forces and aerial transportation of question papers have been made to ensure safe delivery and handling of examination materials.
